Dear Editor,

I am a Gingerbread Man. As everyone knows, I come from a family which is used to risk-taking and facing dangerous situations. That’s why I read Eli Love’s article with great interest: How to be a Good Host. Entertaining at Home. My wife (the Cake Lady) and I had been planning on organizing a little party in our new home for a few of our friends. Encouraged by Eli’s advice and recommendations we decided to invite the Irish Gingerbread Men, my wife’s Cake Lady cousins, our neighbours the Chocolate Men, and our friends Sara Li and Ana K, who brought along their inseparable friend, Penis Boy.

In her article, Eli assures us that “the secret of success lies in knowing how to look after your guests, even at family gatherings”. So we followed her instructions closely, beginning with our welcome. As she suggested, we went out to greet our guests as they arrived, welcoming each of them individually with small talk at the door. This took some time. As a matter of fact we were at the door for nearly four hours, at which point my wife, who is made of strawberries and cream, began to freeze with the cold, so I had to put her in the oven.

So I was left to do the introductions by myself. Luckily, the guests had had time to get to know each other. In fact, some of the cousins’ bellies looked suspiciously swollen to me but I didn’t dare enquire about the reason for it. A good host should be aware of his guests’ mood. From the first moment I was conscious of a certain tension between the Gingerbread Men and the Chocolate Men. Old rivalries – getting the best spot on a shelf next to a Cake Lady or being sold before anyone else - had begun to emerge. I noticed a strange odour. Meanwhile, Sara Li and Ana K were having fun with their friend, Penis Boy. In fact, it looked like they were up to something but the important thing for me at that moment was to look after the rest of my guests. I would worry about the Siamese Twins later.

I checked my pocket for one of the notes my wife and I had written that morning with a list of conversation topics to deal with awkward silences, and with it put an end to the prevailing tension. I went over to a group of dark Chocolate Men with white chocolate shavings. I glanced at my notes and read:

· It´s getting cheaper to fire Chocolate Men
· Cake Ladies prefer the sweet aroma of Gingerbread Men.
·White Chocolate Councillor pays for the reform of his choco-house with public choco-money.

Nobody said anything but there was an acute rise in temperature and the Chocolate Men began to melt. So I took them to the fridge, opened the door and sat them in front of it.

As I left the kitchen some Gingerbread Men accosted me and demanded to know why I had invited the Chocolate Men. I realized the success of the party was in danger. But I wasn’t put off by that fear and reached into my pocket for another of the notes:

· Milk Chocolate Man with almonds has been elected president.
· 50% of biscuit factories have been shut down due to the crisis.
· West Chocolate Story is a hit again on Broadway.

Once again, I had made a mistake with my list. Fortunately, the Golosas Twins, drawn by the delicious smell of toasted butter wafting off my relatives, approached to offer us some of their delicacies: eyes in their own juices, pieces of hearts-in-love, crunchy babies’ hands, nuns’ poos, etc.

Things quietened down with the meal. Suddenly everything seemed to be going well. The Cake cousins seemed to be enjoying the company of Penis Boy. The fussed around him laughing and eating the dishes he offered them. The Chocolate Men had recovered and joined the Gingerbread Men who were eating straight from the hands of Sara Li and Ana K. It was then that I realized not everyone can be the perfect host; it requires certain qualities: innate qualities in the Golosas sisters, who charmed everyone with their social and culinary flair, who flooded the room with their joy and beauty, transforming the gathering into an unforgettable occasion.

The party was a success; everything had turned out just as Eli Love had forecast. All that remained was to say goodbye to the guests. Only then did I remember that I had put my wife in the oven. I ran to the kitchen realizing now what the strange smell was that permeated the house. I did all I could to save her but it was too late; the charred remains of my wife lay in the depths of the oven. I don’t know how long I cried over the waste of that beautiful body but when I got back to the living-room, everything had changed. No more laughter and dancing. Biscuit crumbs scattered on the carpet, chocolate dribbles splashed all over the walls and furniture, and with every step, I crushed what was left of the sugar flowers that had decorated the bodies of the beautiful Cake cousins.

Later I was told that in my absence, Penis Boy had tied up my wife’s cousins because they had become a nuisance and were claiming that he was the father of the children they had given birth to at the party. Meanwhile, the Siamese Twins had gone mad chasing after all the Chocolate Men and Gingerbread Men and gobbling them all up. Then, insatiable as ever, they devoured the cousins and their babies.
Eli Love was right; a host should never leave his guests alone. He should be the last one to leave his own party.

Ginger Bread Man nos ha escrito una carta relatándonos la terrible y traumática experiencia de celebrar junto a su mujer-tarta un cena en su casa. También podeis ver las imágenes de lo que allí sucedió en la sección de CUENTOS.

Sr Director,
Soy un ginger bread man. Como todo el mundo sabe, provengo de una familia acostumbrada a correr riesgos y a enfrentarse a enormes peligros. Por eso, la semana pasada leí con gran atención el articulo de Eli Love: “ Cómo ser un buen anfitrión. Recibir en casa”. Mi esposa (la mujer-tarta) y yo estabamos planeando organizar una pequeña fiesta en nuestra nuevo hogar para algunos amigos, así que animados por sus palabras y consejos decidimos invitar a nuestra casa a los ginger bread men de Irlanda, a las primas-tarta de mi mujer, a nuestros vecinos los hombres de chocolate y a nuestras amigas Sara Li y Ana K, que vinieron acompañadas por su inseparable Penis Boy.

En su artículo, Eli aseguraba que “saber atender a nuestros invitados es la garantía del éxito, incluso en las reuniones familiares”, así que seguimos al pié de la letra sus consejos, empezando por la bienvenida. Tal y como Eli aconsejaba, salimos a recibir a nuestros invitados uno por uno, saludándoles y conversando brevemente en la entrada. Esto nos llevo un tiempo, la verdad es que estuvimos casi cuatro horas en la puerta. Para entonces mi mujer, que es de fresa y nata, ya había empezado a congelarse por el frío que hacía en la calle, así que tuve que introducirla en el horno.

Por eso, no me quedo más remedio que hacerme cargo yo sólo de las presentaciones. Por suerte los invitados ya se habían ido conociendo, a decir verdad ya habían tenido tiempo de intimar. De hecho, me pareció que algunas de las primas tenían el vientre sospechosamente hinchado, aunque no me atreví a preguntar. Un buen anfitrión debe estar atento al estado de ánimo de sus invitados. Y desde el primer momento me pareció detectar cierta tensión entre algunos ginger bread men y los hombres de chocolate. Antiguas rencillas por conseguir el mejor sitio en la estantería, por colocarse a lado de las mujeres-tarta o por ser comprados antes que los demás parecían salir nuevamente a la luz. Empezaba a respirarse un cierto olor enrarecido. Mientras Sara Li y Ana K estaban muy entretenidas con su amigo Penis Boy. En realidad parecían estar tramando algo, pero ahora lo importante era atender a mis otros invitados. Ya me ocuparía después de las siamesas.

Busqué en mi bolsillo una de las chuletas que mi mujer y yo habíamos preparado por la mañana con listas de temas de conversación para evitar los silencios incómodos, y así acabar con la tensión reinante. Me acerqué a un grupo de hombres de chocolate puro con birutas de chocolate blanco. Miré el papel y recité:
- Se abarata el despido de los hombres de chocolate
- Las mujeres-tarta prefieren el dulce aroma de los ginger bread men
- El diputado de chocolate blanco paga la reforma de su choco-casa con choco-dinero público

Nadie dijo nada, pero la temperatura se había disparado y los hombres de chocolate empezaron a derretirse, así que los llevé directamente al frigorífico, abrí la nevera y los situé delante.

Al salir de la cocina me asaltaron algunos ginger bread men y me preguntaron abiertamente por qué había invitado a los hombres de chocolate. Por primera vez vi peligrar la velada. No dejé que el miedo se apoderase de mí y tanteé mi chaqueta en busca de otra de las notas:
- El hombre de chocolate con leche y almendras sale elegido presidente
- La crisis cierra más del 50% de las fábricas de galletas
- “West Chocolate Story” vuelve a triunfar en Broadway

Me había vuelto a equivocar de lista. Por suerte, las siamesas Golosas , atraidas por el delicioso olor a mantequilla tostada que desprendían mis familiares, se aproximaron para ofrecer algunas de sus delicatessen: ojos en su jugo, trozos de corazones de enamorados, manitas crujientes de bebé, caquitas de monja, etc.

La comida pareció calmarles. De repente parecía que todo empezaba a salir bien. Las primas-tarta disfrutaban de la compañía de penis boy. Revoloteaban a su alrededor riendo y comiendo los platillos que él les ofrecía. Los hombres de chocolate, recuperados de su indisposición, se unieron a los ginger bread men que comían directamente de las manos de Sara Li y Ana K. Y entonces lo comprendí, no todo el mundo puede ser un perfecto anfitrión, pues hay que tener cualidades muy especiales, cualidades innatas en las hermanas Golosas que engatusaron a todos con sus habilidades culinarias y sociales, que inundaron todo el salón con su belleza y alegría, convirtiendo la reunión en un recuerdo imborrable.

La fiesta era un éxito, todo había salido tal y como Eli Love había augurado. Ya sólo quedaba la despedida de los invitados. Sólo entonces recordé que había metido a mi esposa en el horno. Corrí hacia la cocina, ahora comprendía el extraño olor que había inundado la casa. Hice todo lo posible por salvarla, pero era demasiado tarde, mi esposa yacía calcinada en lo más profundo del horno. No sé cuanto tiempo lloré por el desperdicio de ese delicioso cuerpo, pero cuando volví al salón todo había cambiado. Ya no había risas ni bailes. Había migas de galletas esparcidas por la alfombra, chorretones de chocolate salpicaban todos el mobiliario y las paredes, y a cada paso tropezaba con restos de flores de azúcar que hasta ese momento decoraban los cuerpos de las bellísimas primas-tarta.

Después me contaron que en mi ausencia Penis boy había atado a las primas de mi mujer, según declaró, porque se habían puesto muy pesadas y le reclamaban la paternidad de los hijos que habían tenido en el transcurso de la fiesta. Mientras las siamesas enloquecidas habían perseguido a todos los hombres de chocolate y los ginger bread men hasta acabar con todos ellos dentro de su estómago. Después, insaciables como son, también habían devorado a las primas y a sus bebés.
Eli Love tenía razón, un anfitrión nunca debe dejar solos a sus invitados, debe ser el último en abandonar su propia fiesta.

After months of hard work, the Siamese Twins, Sara Li and Ana K, have opened their restaurant lounge bar. We have spoken to them and they have explained the idea behind the project. What is more, they have revealed, exclusively to ABCD, the recipe for their delicious little men, made of course with new products from their store.
Las Golosas, owners of the sweet and sour preserve factory and delicatessen, have confessed that their love of food and the human being is all because of their mothers. These sisters have transformed such a basic action as is eating into a real art form, full of contradictions, excesses, superabundance, gluttony and undernourishment.
1. How and when did the idea emerge of opening your own restaurant?
We were rereading Brillant-Savarin’s transcendental gastronomical meditations and one particular sentence kept us awake for nights: “The discovery of a new dish makes humanity happier than the discovery of a new star”. As you know, our aim in life is to make everyone as happy as we possibly can, so we thought a restaurant would be the perfect place to complete our work.
2. How would you define your restaurant?
Our cooking is creative cooking, signature cuisine but with strong roots in the oldest traditions.
3. What is the secret of your success?
Without a doubt, the secret of our success lies in the combination of medicalization and overfeeding that we offer. As well as the love with which we toast all our customers, which is not only done out of generosity and kind-heartedness. You have to bear in mind that today’s diner may well be tomorrow’s exquisite tidbit.
4. Why is each visit to your restaurant a unique and unrepeatable experience?
Well, we were clear from the beginning that research and innovation is everything in any restaurant that aspires to win a Michelin star. So every day we introduce new dishes and recipes and keep the “first time” spirit alive.
5. What are you investigating at the moment?
Our new creations have evolved out of our research into the products that the media offers, such as Grandma Stock, made from a large fistful of childhood memories, a few drops of home tradition, plenty of health and then a dressing of modern touches and a strong flavour of authenticity. There’s also our salad dressed up as love, made with slices of sex, strips of youth and beauty and pan-fried in hyperactivity. Then there’s our sparkling wine made with grapes of fame, which have been grown in social conscience vineyards, fermented in success and with a light aroma of power and money.
6. What role does each of you play in this new Project?
The truth is we are a perfect tandem; we think and act the same, so everything goes with a flow. No rows, no arguments, no disappointments or other annoyances.
7. What does it mean to you to be a cook?
Being a cook is something very simple for us. In fact, all you have to do is go outside, look around and let your imagination go. If we are sitting on some terrace and we see a jolly fat office worker pass by, we just think “look at that exquisite angel lard”. Of if it’s a skinny shopkeeper, “look at that delicious tongue casserole”. You could say we have our brains in our stomachs.

Después de meses de intenso trabajo, las siamesas Sara Li y Ana K han inaugurado su restaurante lounge bar. Hemos hablado con ellas y nos han descubierto las claves de este nuevo proyecto. Además han desvelado, en exclusiva para ABCD, la receta de sus deliciosos hombrecitos, por supuesto hechos con los nuevos productos de su tienda.
Las Golosas, dueñas de la fábrica de conservas agridulces y de su tienda de delicatessen, confiesan que sus madres son las responsables de su amor por la comida y el ser humano. Las hermanas han convertido un acto tan básico como es comer en un auténtico arte lleno de contradicciones, excesos, superabundancia, gula y desnutrición.

1. ¿Cómo y cuando surgió la idea de abrir vuestro propio restaurante?
Estábamos releyendo las meditaciones de gastronomía trascendente de Brillant-Savarin y una frase no nos dejó dormir en varios días: “la invención de un nuevo plato hace a la humanidad más feliz que el descubrimiento de una nueva estrella”. Como sabes, nuestro objetivo en la vida es dar amor y hacer felices a todos cuantos podamos, así que pensamos que un restaurante sería el lugar perfecto para completar nuestra obra.
2. ¿Cómo definirías vuestro restaurante?
Nuestra cocina es una cocina creativa, de autor pero con fuertes raíces en la tradición más ancestral.
3. ¿Cuál es el secreto de vuestro éxito?
Sin duda el secreto de nuestro éxito radica en la mezcla de medicalización y sobrealimentación que ofrecemos. Además del amor que brindamos a todos nuestros clientes, y no es sólo por generosidad y buen corazón, también hay que pensar que el comensal de hoy bien podría ser un bocado exquisito el día de mañana.
4. ¿Por qué cada visita a vuestro restaurante es única e irrepetible?
Bueno, desde el principio tuvimos claro que la investigación y la innovación lo era todo en un restaurante que aspira a una estrella Michelín. Así que cada día presentamos productos y recetas nuevas y mantenemos vivo el espíritu de “la primera vez”.
5. ¿Qué estáis investigando en estos momentos?
Nuestras nuevas creaciones han partido de la investigación de los productos que nos ofrecen los medios de comunicación: como el caldo de abuela hecho con un gran manojo de recuerdos de la infancia, unas gotitas de tradición casera, con tropezones de salud y aderezado con unos toques de modernidad y un potente sabor a auténtico. También está nuestra ensalada disfrazada de amor, hecha con rodajas de sexo, tiras de juventud y belleza y un salteado de hiperactividad. O nuestro vino espumoso hecho con uvas de fama, cultivadas en viñedos de conciencia social, fermentado en barrica de éxito y ligeramente aromatizado con poder y dinero.

6. ¿Qué papel tenéis cada una de vosotras en este nuevo proyecto?
La verdad es que somos un tandem perfecto pensamos y actuamos igual, así que todo fluye felizmente, sin contratiempos, sin peleas, sin disgustos, ni otras molestias.

7. ¿Qué significa para vosotras ser cocineras?
Ser cocineras ha sido para nosotras algo muy sencillo. En realidad no hay más que salir a la calle, verlo todo con ojos de cocinero y dejar volar la imaginación. Si estamos sentadas en una terracita y vemos pasar a un alegre oficinista obeso pensamos “mira que tocinillos de cielo tan exquisitos”, si en cambio pasa una flacucha dependienta “mira que lengua estofada más deliciosa”. En fin, se podría decir que tenemos el cerebro en el estómago.

In September, the Golosa twins saw their dreams come true when they became mothers. Two months after giving birth, Sara Li and Ana K introduce us to their little ones, Lo and Ve.

As well as being photographed, the Siamese twins spoke to us about their new experience as mothers and also brought us up to date on their work projects. The sisters also decided to fill us in on how their pregnancy went. So we learnt that Sara Li and Ana K worked on the creation of their factory and shop in Murcia literally right up to the last minute. In fact, the babies were born on 12 September, the very opening day. So immediately after the cocktail lunch at La Concervera they flew straight to Madrid where they checked into the Ruller International Clinic.

The sisters have proved themselves to be not only supermums, but real live superwomen. It is hard to believe how quickly they have got their figures back after the birth and, generous as they are, they have shared their secret: a strict diet based on human bones and taking part in a triathlon the day after the birth.

Of course, we were concerned about the professional future of the twins so they briefed us on their upcoming project: the opening of the restaurant Las Golosas Lounge Restaurant. They are already working on surprising new dishes which they themselves confess have been inspired by great international chefs. “We had so many food fads and whims during our pregnancy that we traveled almost every day to discover the best kitchens in the world: El Bulli, The Fat Duck, El Noma etc. and they have been the inspiration for our new creations.”

En septiembre, las siamesas Golosas vieron cumplido su sueño y se convirtieron por primera vez en mamás. Después de dos meses de haber dado a luz, Sara Li y Ana K nos presentan a sus pequeños retoños Lo y Ve.

Además de las fotos, las siamesas nos hablaron de su experiencia como madres y de la recapitulación de sus proyectos profesionales. Las hermanas también se han decidido a contar algunos detalles de su embarazo. Así, hemos podido saber que Sara Li y Ana K trabajaron en la creación de su fábrica y de su tienda de Murcia hasta, literalmente, el último momento. De hecho, los bebés nacieron el 12 de septiembre, el mismo día de la inauguración, por eso después del cóctel-comida que ofrecieron en La Conservera, volaron directamente a Madrid donde ingresaron en la clínica Ruller Internacional.

Las hermanas nos han demostrado que además de ser unas supermamis, son unas auténticas superwomen. Nos sorprendió lo rápido que habían recuperado su figura tras el parto, pero ellas, generosas como son, nos contaron su secreto, una estricta dieta a base de huesos humanos y participar en un triatlón al día siguiente del nacimiento.

Por supuesto lo que más nos preocupaba era el futuro profesional de las siamesas, a lo que ellas respondieron adelantándonos el proyecto en el que están trabajando ahora, y que verá la luz muy pronto: la apertura de su restaurante Las Golosas Lounge Restaurant. Para el cual ya están preparando nuevas y sorprendente recetas, que como ellas mismas confiesan, están inspiradas en los grandes cheffs internacionales, “Durante el embarazo tuvimos muchos antojos, así que viajamos casi a diario para conocer los mejores fogones del mundo: El Bulli, The Fat Duck, El Noma,etc, y ellos nos inspiraron para nuestras nuevas creaciones”

LAS SIAMESAS SE VAN A SANTANDER

Las siamesas Golosas se van a Santander. Allí, mostrarán su trabajo en el Museo de Bellas Artes. La inauguración será el 2 de octubre, aunque la asisitencia de las hermanas aún no ha sido confirmada, la exposición promete ser un éxito.

Erin ha vuelto de Irlanda de visitar a su familia, allí conoció a los fabulosos Ginger Bread Men, que han querido acompañarla a España para conocer a las famosas siamesas Golosas. Así que nada más llegar a Calp han ido a visitar a Sara Li y Ana K. Y las hermanas les han preparado una deliciosa merienda con algunos de los platos que últimamente han incorporado a su recetario. Los tres Ginger Bread Men han podido disfrutar de la ensalada de canónigos, los dedos de dama, los pechitos de venus, los huesos de santo y otras exquisiteces. Al final, las Golosas se han acercado a la mesa para saber si sus invitados estaban satisfechos, pero al apróximarse a uno de ellos, su olor a mantequilla tostada ha invadido todo su ser y no han podido evitar devorarle; e insaciables como son, ya no han parado hasta comérse a todos. Después, con el estómago lleno se han quedado dormidas.

Erin’s just back from a visit to her family in Ireland, where she met the fabulous Gingerbread Men. They wanted to go back to Spain with her, so they could meet the famous Golosas Siamese Twins. As soon as they got to Calp they visited Sara Li and Ana K. The sisters made them a delicious tea with some of the latest additions to their recipe book. The three Gingerbread Men really enjoyed the Canon Salad, Ladies’ Fingers, Venus’ Bosoms, Saint’s Bones and other delicacies. Towards the end of the meal the Golosas went over to the table to see if their guests had enjoyed their tea. On approaching one of the Gingerbread Men, they were overcome by his scent of toasted butter, and couldn’t resist devouring him. And as the twins are insatiable, they wouldn’t stop until they’d finished the lot. Then they fell asleep on their full stomachs.You can see some photos of the tea party in their ALBUM

Understandably, they were reluctant to break the news until the early weeks of the pregnancy had passed. But now in their third month of pregnancy, they have decided to make it known.

The pregnancy, the first for both sisters, is “something we have long been yearning for “. Perhaps that is why they are feeling so well. Al final se confirman los rumores que llevan circulando durante semanas por todos los medios de comunicación, Sara Li Y Ana K están embarazadas. A pesar de haberlo negado desde que surgieran los primeros rumores, justo después de la cena de Navidad, donde pudimos observar lo abultado de sus vientres, ahora son ellas las que nos ofrecen en primicia la noticia. Como es lógico, decidieron esperar un tiempo prudencial para confirmar finalmente la buena nueva. Ahora, cumplidos ya los tres meses de gestación se han decidido a mostrar la prueba definitiva, sus cuerpos llenos de vida.
Este embarazo, que es el primero para las dos, supone para ambas cumplir “un deseo anhelado durante mucho tiempo”. Será por eso que el embarazo les sienta tan bien, y es que hay que reconocer que las siamesas están radiantes, incluso ellas han confesado sentirse “más sexis que nunca”, por eso han decidido posar para esta revista mostrando su estado de buena esperanza.

EL ORIGEN DE SARA LI Y ANA K / THE ORIGIN OF SARA LI AND ANA K.

En la Carnicería Love los cuerpos esperan, colgados de sus ganchos, a ser elegidos para ser parte de una exquisita receta. En los primeros tiempos, los cuerpos escaseaban, pero ahora son abundantes y variados, hay mujeres enamoradas, hombres confusos, hay viejos llenos de recuerdos y niños cargados de ilusiones, hay bajitas peligrosas, gordos risueños, mujeres barbudas, etc.
Aunque son cuatro cocineras, tanta abundancia de cadáveres las desborda. En el frigorífico se acumulan los despojos de las recetas principales, toda clase de fragmentos humanos que no han sido seleccionados aún pero que esperan ser usados en alguna de las famosas creaciones de la carnicería. Están separados según sus características, hay botes llenos de deseos, tarros de afectos, bandejas de ilusiones y sueños, latas de rabia contenida, pasta hecha de culpa, toneles repletos de angustia, tristeza o miedo.
La carnicería empieza a funcionar de madrugada, bien temprano para aprovechar el frio y el silencio matinal. Una mañana, Li, la mayor de las cocineras, llega canturreando a la tienda, está realmente contenta. Durante meses el problema de los restos humanos que se acumulan en la cocina no la ha dejado dormir. No puede permitir que no tengan un final como se merecen, un gran festín, una cena íntima, un frugal desayuno o quizás una ligera merienda-cena. Pero esa mañana el frio parece haberle aclarado las ideas y ahora tiene la solución perfecta, así que camina decidida hacia la tienda, va ligera, empujada por el sueño que la envuelve.
Se reúne con las demás y les cuenta con emoción su proyecto: van a ser madres. Las otras saltan de alegría, se abrazan y besan. Un poco más serenas se ponen manos a la obra: Sara y Ana van al frigorífico y confeccionan una lista con todos los fragmentos de que disponen. Por supuesto no vale cualquier trozo, cada pedazo es seleccionado cuidadosamente según las características deseadas para la formación de ese nuevo ser.
Mientras tanto Li y Kath estudian cómo dar vida a esa nueva criatura. Por fin se reúnen las cuatro en la cocina dispuestas a comenzar la que sin duda será su mayor obra culinaria. Sobre la mesa de trabajo ponen una enorme bandeja para horno y extienden todas las piezas rescatadas de la alacena. Como si de un puzle se tratara van encajando los fragmentos hasta componer una figura completa, pero algunas piezas están repetidas mientras que de otras no hay suficientes para completar una persona entera, por eso se ven obligadas a realizar un ser doble pero que en realidad forma un solo cuerpo. Ahora deben coser cuidadosamente cada pedazo. Cuando tienen todas las partes unidas en un todo, lo recubren de barro y lo meten en el horno a una temperatura de 250 grados. A pesar de la alta temperatura del horno, el proceso es largo y, durante 7 días el cuerpo permanece tendido en el interior de esa cueva de fuego. Durante ese tiempo las cocineras, por turnos, riegan el cuerpo de las siamesas con caldo de vida. Pasado el tiempo reglamentario para la creación, sacan el cuerpo doble y esperan a que enfríe y mientras las siamesas se incorporan a su nueva vida, las cocineras que ya han decidido los nombres que tendrá el nuevo ser, empiezan a preparar un gran festín para celebrar la llegada de Sara Li y Ana K.

In the Carnicería Love, the bodies hanging from their hooks are waiting to be selected to be part of some exquisite recipe. In the early days, there were few bodies but now there is no shortage and plenty of variety. There are women in love, confused men, the elderly full of memories and children with their hopes and dreams. There are threatening little women, smiling fat men, bearded women etc.

Although there are four to do the cooking, with such abundance of carcasses things can get out of hand. In the fridge, leftovers of body parts for the main recipes pile up; all sorts of human fragments that haven’t been selected yet wait to be used in one of the butchery’s famous creations. They are grouped together according to their characteristics: tins of wishes, jars of affection, trays of hopes and dreams, cans of contained rage, pasta made of guilt, and tubs filled with anguish, fear or sadness.

At the butchery work starts at dawn, nice and early to make the most of the cool temperatures and the quiet of the morning. One morning, Li, the oldest of the cooks, hums contentedly as she starts her day. For months she has been losing sleep over the problem of what to do with the accumulation of human remains. She cannot allow that they don’t have the end they deserve: a big feast, a romantic dinner, a frugal breakfast, or perhaps even high tea. But this morning the cold seems to have cleared her head and she’s come up with the perfect solution, which is why her step is light as she heads decidedly towards the shop, pushed along by the dream that envelops her.

She calls a meeting with the other cooks and tells them excitedly about her proposal: they are going to be mothers. The others jump for joy, hug and kiss one another. Once they have calmed down they set to work: Sara and Ana go to the fridge and put together a list of all the fragments they have at their disposal. Of course, they can’t just use any old chunk; each piece is carefully selected according to the desired qualities for the formation of this new being.

Meanwhile, Li and Kath study how to bring the new creature to life. At last the four of them get together in the kitchen ready to start what will undoubtedly be their greatest culinary work. They set a huge oven tray on the work table and spread out all the pieces salvaged from the pantry. They fit the pieces together, as if it were a jigsaw puzzle, into the shape of a figure. But there are too many of some parts and not enough of others to make a full person, so they have no choice but to make a double being but with just one body. Now they must carefully stitch together each chunk. When they have all the parts joined up, they cover it in clay, and bake it in the oven at 250º. In spite of the high temperature of the oven, the process is long and for seven days the body is suspended in the interior of this cavern of fire. The cooks, meanwhile, take it in turns to baste the body of the Siamese twins with the juices of life. Once the regulatory time required for creation has elapsed, they take out the double body, and allow it to cool. While the Siamese twins are adjusting to their new life, the cooks, who have already decided on names, start preparing a great feast to celebrate the arrival of Sara Li and Ana K.

ROSALÍA ENTREVISTA A SARA LI Y A ANA K DESPUÉS DE SU CUMPLEAÑOS/INTERVIEW WITH SARA LI AND ANA K ABOUT THEIR BIRTHDAY

1. ¿A qué amigos invitasteis a la fiesta?
La verdad es que sólo invitamos a algunos de nuestros amigos más cercanos. Vino Eli Love, que es la chica que va siempre con su piedra sobre la cabeza; Llorona que es la que siempre está llorando; nuestro viejo amigo Penis Boy que es un chico muy cariñoso; y nuestro amor, The Chocolate Man, que está hecho con una mezcla de los mejores chocolates del mundo y es sencillamente delicioso.
2. ¿En qué consistió el menú?
Bueno, debemos decirte que cuando preparamos una comida para compartir con otros, intentamos tener en cuenta más que nunca el hecho de que al comer nutrimos el cuerpo pero también el imaginario. Por eso pensamos que en una ocasión como nuestro cumpleaños era fundamental contar con platos llenos de evocaciones, connotaciones y significaciones para compartir con nuestros amigos, por eso decidimos preparar un menú abundante y variado, así que hicimos algunas de nuestras mejores recetas: cabecitas de niños tiernos, lenguas frescas, corazones de enamorados, tarta agridulce de penes blancos con chocolate y cerezas, ojos secos,…, la verdad es que fue un derroche, un auténtico festín, tal y como prometimos.
3. Eli Love comió muchas cabecitas de niños. Parecían realmente exquisitas, ¿Cuál es el secreto de esta receta?Sin ninguna duda la calidad de la materia prima que utilizamos. Este plato está hecho con las cabezas de los hijos de Barbie y Ken, y eso no deja indiferente a nadie.
4. LLorona no dejó de llorar durante toda la fiesta ¿qué le pasaba esta vez? Bueno, ya sabes, es una chica muy sentimental y, claro, en cuanto probó el primer bocado todos los sabores y olores de su infancia llenaron su paladar de bonitos recuerdos y le invadió una nostalgia infinita. Por eso no paró de llorar .
5. ¿Cómo creeis que salió vuestra celebración? ¿Estais contentas?Por supuesto! Nosotras siempre cocinamos para trasmitir amor y eso nunca falla, todo el mundo anda hambriento de amor ¿no?.
6. Entonces ¿realmente creeis que todos los invitados se lo pasaron bien?Sí, bueno, todos menos The Chocolate Man. Ahora nos sentimos un poco culpables por haberle comido, pero es que está buenísimo!
Y, bueno, Llorona se fue un poco enfadada con Eli porque le lanzó su piedra y le hizo daño , de hecho estuvo inconsciente durante unos minutos y hasta tuvimos que darle puntos en la herida. Aunque si somos justas, ella se lo buscó por pesada, nos estaba arruinando la fiesta.
7. Por cierto, al final de la noche vimos a Eli y a Penisboy muy cariñosos…Sí, creemos que ahora están saliendo, JI, JI JI!

Well, we must remind you that when we prepare a meal to share with friends, we bear in mind more than ever, that eating not only feeds the body but also the imagination. That’s why on an occasion such as our birthday, it’s essential to include dishes that are evocative, full of connotations and meaning. So we decided on a varied and abundant menu, with some of our best recipes: tender babies’ heads, fresh tongues, lovers’ hearts, savoury white penis cake with chocolate and cherries, dried eyes… to tell you the truth it was very extravagant - an absolute feast, just as we had promised.

3. Eli Love ate a lot of babies’ heads. They looked really exquisite. What’s the secret of that recipe?

Without a doubt, it’s the quality of the raw materials we use. That particular dish is made of the heads of Barbie and Ken’s children, and nobody could remain indifferent to that!

4. The Crying Girl never stopped crying the whole party! What was wrong with her this time?

Well, you know what she’s like – very sentimental. So you can imagine, once she took the first bite, all the flavours and smells of her early childhood filled her palate with happy memories and she was absolutely overcome with nostalgia. That’s why she couldn’t stop crying.

5. So how do you feel the party went? Are you happy with it?

Of course we are! We always cook to transmit love and that never fails. Everyone is
hungry for love, don’t you think?

6. So you really think all the guests enjoyed themselves?

Yes. Well, everyone except The Chocolate Man. We feel a bit guilty now about gobbling him up, but he was delicious!
And then The Crying Girl was a bit annoyed with Eli for throwing her stone at her and hurting her – in fact she was unconscious for a few minutes and we even had to stitch her wound. But to be fair, she had it coming to her; she was ruining the party.

7. By the way, we noticed that Eli and Penis Boy were very affectionate at the end of the evening…

Yes, we think they’re going out together now. Hee hee hee!

1- ¿cómo surgió la idea de crear vuestra propia fábrica de conservas?
La verdad es que estábamos preocupadas por lo mal que se alimenta la gente hoy en día. Por tanta comida basura. Comida que llena el estómago pero no nutre el cuerpo ni sacia el apetito de la mente. Así que pensamos que nosotras sabíamos hacer comida de verdad y que con ella podríamos hacer felices a muchas personas.
2- ¿Cuál es el secreto de vuestra comida?
El amor. Cuando cocinamos ponemos todo nuestro corazón, nuestro cerebro y todas las demás víscera para preparar estas recetas. Así nuestros sentimientos llegan a todos aquellos que prueban nuestra comida.
3- ¿Por qué creéis que gusta tanto vuestra comida?
Por el sabor. Todos nuestros platos tiene un sabor que resulta muy, muy familiar aunque con un punto diferente, nuevo. A nosotras nos gusta decir que hacemos comida casera con un punto sofisticado.
4- ¿En qué os inspiráis para hacer estas recetas tan apetitosas?Siempre que cocinamos tratamos de rememorar nuestros recuerdos más intensos. Los olores y sabores de nuestra infancia, la comida de mamá y de la abuelita, las cenas de Navidad. Aunque a veces también pensamos en las comidas del colegio y del campamento, en los lugares donde hay escasez y la gente pasa hambre.
5- Mucha gente se pregunta por qué es tan intensa vuestra relación con la comida, se debe a caso a un empacho infantil o a que pasasteis hambre de pequeñas?Nada de eso. En realidad no hay nada más vital e íntimo que la relación que cada uno de nosotros tiene con la comida. A decir verdad, nada penetra tan profundamente en nuestro interior. Por algo dicen que somos lo que comemos.
6- ¿Por qué creéis que la gente elige vuestras conservas y no otras?
Bueno, no es lo mismo comer un tomate clonado comprado en el super de la esquina; que comer un tomate de secano, recogido en la huerta de casa, cultivado con cariño por el abuelo y madurado al sol del Mediterráneo. Para nosotras es igual de importante nutrir el cuerpo que alimentar la mente, despertar el deseo, revivir sentimientos, entristecer o hacer sufrir
7- Por último, me gustaría preguntaros, cómo creéis que deben consumirse vuestros productos, en compañía o a solas, están pensados como parte de un gran festín o par degustar en la intimidad?
Depende de qué producto estemos hablando. Contamos con una gran variedad de conservas y naturalmente cada una tiene sus propias características; poderío, feminidad, virilidad, las hay tradicionales y también modernas, tenemos productos llenos de refinamiento pero otros son terriblemente sencillos. En fin, tenemos productos para todas las personas y todas las ocasiones.

1. How did you come up with the idea of creating your own preserve factory?Well, to be honest, we were worried about how badly people eat nowadays, with so much fast-food. Food that fills the stomach but doesn’t feed the body or satisfy the mind. So we thought we knew how to make real food and that way make many people happier.

2. What is the secret of your products?
Love. When we prepare these recipes we put our hearts, our brains and other offal into our cooking. So we send our feelings to everyone who tastes our food. .

3. Why do you think people enjoy your food so much?Because of the flavour. All our dishes taste very, very familiar but at the same time it is something new, with a different touch. We like to describe it as home-made food with a sophisticated touch.

4. Where does the inspiration come from for such appetizing food?Whenever we cook we try to recall our most intense memories. The smells and flavours of our childhood, our mama’s food and our grandmama’s, our Christmas dinners. Although we do sometimes think of school dinners and camp food, of places where food is scarce and people go hungry.

5. Many people wonder why your relationship with food is so intense. Is it due to a case of overeating in childhood, or because you went hungry as children?Not at all. In fact, there is nothing as vital or intimate as the relationship we each have with our food. To tell you the truth, there really is nothing else that penetrates so deeply into our insides. It’s not for nothing they say “you are what you eat”.

6. Why do you think people choose your preserves rather than others?
Well, one thing is to eat a cloned tomato from the local supermarket and it’s another to eat a tomato, farmed and picked from the vegetable garden, grown with loving care by a grandfather, then left to mature in the Mediterranean sun. For us it’s just as important to feed the body as the mind, to awaken desire, revive feelings, to sadden or to cause suffering.

7. Last of all, I’d like to ask you, how do you think your products should be eaten: in the company of others or alone? Have they been created to be part of a great feast or to be enjoyed on one’s own?
It depends on which product we’re dealing with. We’re talking about a great variety of products and obviously each one has its own particular characteristics: power; femininity; virility; there’s traditional or modern, and some of our products are absolute refinement while others are terribly simple. So really, we’ve got something for everyone and for every occasion.

The Carnicería Love (The Love Butcher’s) is a place where feelings are cooked. The women in Carnicería Love (in the photos, drawings and video) may, on first sight, appear to be preparing dishes with the bodies of other human beings. However, it is in fact, their own hearts that they pull out, chop, sauté and roast. In other words, they are cooking themselves.

Most cultures actually accept this relationship between feelings and food, especially between love and food: mothers try to make tasty meals for their children; when we have guests we go out of our way to offer them the best we have (insofar as we can - this is not a question of money or being a great cook). All kinds of events are celebrated around the dining table. It is as though we project a part of ourselves onto the food we prepare.

In this way, the bodies on which the recipes are carried out represent the exteriorization of the feelings of those who are cooking them. These cooks are not trying to hurt or assault others, but to express their own pain, suffering, impotence etc. The cooked bodies become a reflection of these sentiments. Thus, each recipe is an inward gaze and a way of purging the pain.
Even though fear is shown reflected outside the body, it comes from within. That other, the monster that terrifies her, is within her but she takes it out and puts it on the table to confront it. This monster is part of her being and so the bodies she cooks are almost an extension of her own body. That is why they are without an identity, with hardly any defining features, many of them asexual beings; in fact they are bowls filled with the cook’s innards.

La Carniceria Love es el lugar donde se cocinan los sentimientos. Aunque a primera vista las mujeres de la Carniceria Love (las de las fotos, las de los dibujos y la del video) parecen estar preparando recetas con los cuerpos de otros seres humanos, en realidad, se trocean, se hornean, se saltean, se arrancan su propio corazón, en definitiva, se cocinan a sí mismas.
En realidad, en la mayoría de las culturas aceptan esta relación entre la comida y los sentimientos, y más concretamente entre la comida y el amor. Las madres tratan de preparar suculentas comidas para sus hijos, cuando tenemos invitados en casa intentamos ofrecerles lo mejor de nosotros, preparándoles la mejor comida posible (dentro de nuestras posibilidades, no es una cuestión de dinero o de ser un gran chef), las celebraciones ante cualquier acontecimiento simpre giran en torno a una mesa, etc. Es como si proyectásemos parte de nosotros en la comida que preparamos.
Así, los cuerpos sobre los que se llevan a cabo las recetas representan la exteriorización de los sentimientos de quienes los están cocinando. Las cocineras no pretenden dañar o agredir a otros, sino que tratan de mostrar su dolor, su sufrimiento, su impotencia, etc. Los seres que cocina se convierten el reflejo de estos sentimientos. Cada receta es por tanto una mirada a su interior, una forma de purgar su dolor.
Aunque el miedo queda reflejado fuera de ella, este surge de su interior. El otro, el monstruo que le aterra, está dentro pero lo saca y lo pone sobre la mesa para enfrentarse a él. Ese monstruo es parte de su ser, por eso los cuerpos que cocina son casi la prolongación de su propio cuerpo. Y es por eso que son cuerpos sin identidad, con apenas rasgos físicos que los definan, incluso muchos son personajes asexuados, pues en realidad son recipientes rellenos con las vísceras de la cocinera.
